We provided a $100,000 multi-year grant to AYCC to launch the first Unified Champion Club Program!

Alfond Youth & Community Center "AYCC"

Since they opened their facility in 1999, they have continued to be creative and always think outside the box to evolve with the needs of the children in their community – today and into the future.  Forming vital partnerships with whom they can dream big and most importantly implement the vision to inspire our youth.

In October 2019, the Foundation Trustees approved funding in the amount of $100,000 over two years for AYCC to launch the Unified Champion Club Program – a partnership between AYCC, the Foundation and Special Olympics Maine.

The Unified Champion Club Program promotes social inclusion using sports and clubs as the foundation to create climates of acceptance. Members with disabilities feel welcome and are routinely included in, and feel a part of, all activities, opportunities and functions – part of the community!

Past Grand Master, Mark Rustin, explained, “The Mason’s are builders, building lives with the purpose of building communities.  We are dedicated to this project, its success here in Waterville, and beyond!  Our goal is to see the Unified Champion Club Program in all communities across Maine
