In addition to the $65,000 we provided to send the Maine Delegation to compete in the National Summer Games in Orlando in June 2022, we have also provided $150,000 to support the statewide expansion of the Unified Champion Clubs which now falls under the Special Olympics Maine umbrella.
Special Olympics Maine
Special Olympics mission is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
It is all about teamwork. The Maine Masonic Charitable Foundation made a commitment to Special Olympics Maine to provide up to $65,000 in direct and/or matching funds support to make sure the Maine Delegation had everything needed to make the trip and compete in this once in a lifetime experience.
The Widows Sons Masonic Motorcycle Association – Low XII Riders Chapter, Waterville Masonic Lodge #33, Belfast Masonic Lodge #24 and Howard Masonic Lodge #69 all agreed to use money they ha or raised locally to apply for matching funds from
the Foundation under the MAC – Masons Assisting Communities initiative.
Under the Foundation’s Matching Grants program, each Lodge can apply for up to $3,000 in matching funds to assist a local nonprofit or community organization. There are 176 Masonic Lodges in Maine, if you wish to support our efforts to expand the Unified Champion Clubs, we encourage you to contact your local Masonic Lodge [find a Lodge near you] and work together to turn $1 into $2 or $1,500 into $3,000!
Support a great cause and double the impact of your donation!
