HOW OUR
MATCHING GRANTS PROGRAM

works

IN fiscal year 2023 [From April 2022 to mid March 2023]

Masonic Lodges in Maine, with the help of the Matching Grants
provided by the Foundation donated over

$936,000!

to support their local communities.

The Foundation has the unique opportunity to become a partner in every community in which Masons reside. We work with the 176 Masonic Lodges located across Maine to assist these local lodges in achieving their charitable efforts in their communities.

Whether it is putting in a bench at a park, helping a library or community center, raising funds for a food bank, fuel assistance, drug-free and alcohol-free graduation celebrations, little league sponsorships, or more; the Masonic Charitable Foundation offers lodges the ability to enhance their fundraising capabilities. Lodges have the ability to raise funds for the causes that captivate their interests and make application to the Foundation for a matching grant.

Monies raised at the Lodge level will be matched $1 for $1 dollar raised up to a $3,000 maximum for any one project.  Every Lodge has access to $5,000 in matching funds annually.  We encourage you to connect with your local Masonic Lodge to see if they would like to support your nonprofit or community project.

Under the MAC – Masons Assisting Communities – initiative, we have seen an increase in the number of grants awarded annually (our fiscal year runs from April 1st to March 31st).  In 2023, we awarded 505 matching grants totaling $606,000 and when combined with the Lodges portion, that is a $936,000 infusion of support into local community nonprofits and programs.  In 2022, we  awarded 390 matching grants totaling $480,000  and when combined with the Lodges portion, that is an over $750,000 infusion of support into local communities across Maine.

As important as the financial support, Masons provide over 10,000 hours of volunteer help in their communities annually.

So let us tell you a little secret that is not really a secret…
